In 1980 a company named Conservation Technology, Ltd. was founded with the mission of offering products that would help conserve energy. Today, as Con-Tech Lighting, we are still committed to our mission of conservation and environmental protection by offering sustainable energy solutions known as EcoTechnology.
At Con-Tech Lighting, our commitment to the environment is as important as our commitment to innovation, quality, and our customers. We believe that lighting can be environmentally responsible and energy efficient, while providing high-quality performance and outstanding aesthetic design. EcoTechnology applies to our daily operation as well as to our products; from materials, manufacturing and transportation, to the disposal process for our products and by-products.EcoTechnology helps us offer many energy-saving lighting solutions that consume the least amount of energy and resources, resulting in the smallest impact on the environment. Ultimately, our approach to sustainability is to create a balance between ecological requirements, quality performance, human need, and architectural integrity.
- Lighting can account for up to 50% of a buildings’ total energy demand, so creating more efficient lighting fixtures will have a tremendous impact on protecting the environment and reducing energy costs.
- We utilize the newest lighting technologies to develop products that offer increased performance and efficiency while reducing energy and provide much longer life. This includes innovative product and application solutions, including StopAire® recessed fixtures, Energy Star qualified fixtures, Title 24 compliant products, and our Custom Fixture Rating Label Service.
- Most of our products are designed to be serviceable, so in the rare instance there is an issue with a component, it can easily be made operational (or more energy efficient) so it doesn’t end up in a land-fill.
- We recycle in our office and factories to maximize the life of the resources we use. Many of our factories have one or more sustainable initiatives, including recycling waste water and excess materials.
- We use recycled materials whenever possible, including paper (catalogs and cartons), glass (pendants), and metal (fixtures).
- Changes in our packaging, like bulk packaging and using recycled materials whenever possible, also reduce our environmental impact.
- We are directly involved with organizations which develop sustainability standards including the U.S. Green Building Council, U.S. Department of Energy, Energy Star, the IESNA, and the High Performance Commercial Green Building Partnership.
